Fresh Healthy Vending began 2011 with something notable. The company, determined to join hands with President Obama (who has signed the historic Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act into law) and do all that's possible to maintain high nutritional standards in schools, has gone for a franchise expansion into Kansas.
The company has now selected a new Franchisee Mark Brenner to provide healthy vending to the Prairie Village, Kansas area. The Healthy Hunger-Free Kids law gives the federal government more authority to set standards for food sold in school vending machines and elsewhere on school grounds.
“As we continue to focus on the twin issues of childhood obesity and hunger, we will increase access to good, quality meals in school cafeterias so the nutritional needs of our youngsters are better met. The President and First Lady have advocated strongly for passing the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, and, this bill, along with the resources and the powers provided under it, are going to allow USDA to be much more effective and aggressive in responding to obesity and hunger challenges for America’s kids,” says U.S. Secretary Of Agriculture Tom Vilsack.
It's in keeping with the new law that Fresh Healthy Vending’s in-house location team has secured and installed its Vending machines into Kansas schools both public and private. These include Westridge Middle School, Indian Woods Middle School, Center High School and Hogan Prep Academy.
Mark Brenner, the new Fresh Franchisee, says, “I wanted to be on the cutting edge of something in a stable industry. Fresh Healthy Vending was the best choice I found that could catapult me into the health food revolution, which is gaining momentum across the country. Eating healthier and feeling better from it will enable many more kids to focus on learning and therefore a better chance at becoming healthier happier adults. Generally, kids have not been offered the choice to eat healthy in school before and we now can provide that choice”.
“Fresh Healthy Vending programs offer a strong solution for schools to clean up their vending programs and offer fresh healthy options. Our programs are a perfect fit and growing quickly in school districts and locations around the U.S.,” said Jolly Backer, CEO of Fresh Healthy Vending.
